My economics teacher said a government should take care of the people in areas that they cannot not.

I am relating this to fighting wars, taking care of those who can truely not take care of themselves and protecting us from the potential evil that is in this world. I am for a smaller government and and less taxes.

I live in Ohio and our borders are pretty far away from where I live, excluding Canada. My perception is that Canada does a better job at vetting than Mexico. We also have a larger number of people trying to reach the USA from our Mexican border

What is wrong or crazy about restricting immigrants to coming in to the United States only on a legal basis ? That's how the process was in the past, it seemed to work.

I work with a Mexican National who works for a company that I do business with. His perspective is that the illegal jumping of the border needs to stop. He came in legally and now his have US citizenship, a great story and an example of how to live and work in the United States on a legal basis.

I am for protection of our borders and how that is best done I leave it to our state and local governments in conjunction with the Federal government who's creation and main purpose is to protect and help it's citizens, not people who are not suppose to be here,, but are here based on illegally gaining entry into our country, or should we toss out all of our laws? Comments and your perspective are welcomed.

Maybe it is that the port of legal entries are so limited, few judges and slowwwww vetting is causing people to be so desperate to escape they have to take the illegal steps .

The vast majority of people who are here illegally are those who have overstayed a Visa. They flew here i.e. Melania Trump who conveniently became a permanent resident when she became DTs girlfriend. When she married Trump she then became a citizen and then she was able to have her parents come here to become citizens...called chained migration. Oh I see...Melania Trump is white. Skin color is all that matters to DT and his followers. They are no better than Nazis in my opinion. Sorry to break it to them but unless they go full Nazi and execute every person of color the country is going to to be majority other than Caucasian in the next thirty years. What will that mean to white people? Are they afraid of how they will then be treated as a minority? Oh if only they followed the Christian tenet of treating others as they themselves would like to be treated. If only they followed Christ's teachings of feeding the poor, healing the sick and dealing benevolently with strangers. Not that I am a devout Christian, but they, DT and his supporters claim to be.

One of my managers had us read the book " Who''s moved the cheese" it was about change. Change is tough for most of us to accept, but in reality it does happen in our lives daily. To your point, there are groups of people that will never accept change in their intentions and thinking.

I believe that to be true for side factions from both sides of the aisle. A majority of us are here due to immigration. Our countries makeup has changed in my lifetime, We are still The United States of America, we are still one of the best countries to live in.

Everyone should have an opportunity to come to our country. My point is that we need new immigrants to come here legally, through a system that has been put in place to protect the population from people with bad intent. Where they originate from is not of concern, as long as they complete the legal process of entry and path to citizenship.

Illegal immigration is not fair to those who have come here legally and completed the process.

Thank you for adding to the topic.

I would agree that the process is slow. My uncle did his part in the process as he became a sponsor to an immigrant . I am in favor of this, in that the immigrant is here and has daily contact with help adapting and navigating in this new country for them. My uncle assisted this person in the citizenship process and he became a citizen.

We need more citizens to step up and assist in this process. Though few do.

We do have people here in the USA that have bad intent. This seems to be a local issue as the local police are here "to serve and protect". Personal protection starts with us. That means avoiding known areas that murders, shootings, muggings and the like typically happen in you city. Avoid late nights out, go in groups and stay as safe as you can by avoiding those places, times and people.

If you happen to live in this questionable area, start some type of action group in your community. We all can contribute.

I agree that there are "some" people that are against future immigration, but that group is a small percetage in relationship to our total population.

Compassion vs fiscal responsibility, rules, laws and process. It can be a tough decision. Although I sometimes I can be a rule breaker, in this case I do have to choose the current established process. It does tend to help protect the current citizens through complete discovery.
