Where I've Been/My Terrible Trip

My first time traveling for my new promotion was a disaster! It started really great and I had a nice Saturday and Sunday in Milwaukee. Then, Monday morning 1/7/19, was possibly the worst day of my life. I got up, put all my stuff in my oversized bag and went down for the complimentary hotel breakfast. I sat my bag down, the one with literally all my stuff in it, and went to the omelet bar. My bag was literally 10 ft away from me but I wasn’t looking at it. I got my omelet, turned around, and my bag was gone. I am talking cell phone, work cell phone, work laptop, tablet, wallet with id and credit cards and cash. Basically, everything was gone in a city not my home. The hotel was great. They moved my room “for my safety” just in case, they gave video of the thief to the Milwaukee PD, and they let me float for three days with no payment on file until my company could get it worked out. My company was great. They got me some cash and eventually a new card, they got me a loaner phone from one of their branches, and they got me a company laptop to use to help cancel things. Delta, however, was not great. I understand there is a government shutdown and I understand that Federal law says I can’t fly without an ID. (Something I forgot about until I went to the airport to fly home on Thursday.) Anyway, I ended up having to stay until the following Monday while I waited on my mom to send me my passport. Now I am trying to get a new ID, get a new phone, and put my life back together. My warning to people is: if you travel for work, be careful and build in safeguards in case your stuff gets stolen. It was a hard lesson to learn, especially on my first trip, but now I know!
