Trying to Say Goodbye Part 1: Fuck Buddies: Stop Kidding Yourself There's NO NSA I was working in Europe on a dreary evening in November. I was also horny and turned to the site before heading off to bed. A delicious post caught my attention. The conversation that followed clinched the deal. The 47-year-old chap from Northern California was advertising for a "fuck buddy," a term to this I find odious, dumb, cheap. Obviously, I didn't know a lot about being gay or bisexual. I have lived in a heterosexual world. After flying over the pond and landing in Southern California, I continued chatting with my Northern California friend. He was not only charming but sharp, an author, a national speaker. I finally met my intellectual match. It was a great package, brains and braun. I applied. I learned getting the right fuck buddy took some work, depending on how horny you may be. My friend in radiology said it best, "Hospitals are preparing for incidents of gay men with renal failure (kidney failure) in the future." Let's hope not! But every action has a consequence. Unless it is a one-night stand, there's no such thing as a "no-strings-attached" sex arrangement. The more you are in bed with the guy, the more he is likely to graduate to lover, whom you have divulged private information about your partner you have back home. "Fuck buddies" can become your worst nightmare when the slighted fuck buddy turned lover seeks revenge on the partner you may have. The strings unravel quickly. You just can't wrap a person in a box and take him out when you need sex. Even with sex buddies, lots of feelings exist. And feelings and emotions can sour and destroy lives.
