What are night thoughts?
What are night thoughts? What are night thoughts? Not what you think they are, you dirty pervert! Or, maybe they are(?). Night thoughts are a common exercise in creative writing classes where students are asked keep a journal of random spontaneous thoughts every single evening. The thoughts are be captured before the conscious mind can process, manipulate and warp them. A search for pure thoughts and unadulterated imagination. A source for seeds of ideas be developed, embellished, shaped into poetry and prose in the lucid light of day. I'm many away from my college creative writing course (even engineers had take a liberal arts course back in the day). But, I think it would be fun try keep a night thoughts journal again. What better time than now? What better place than here? [To all those who answered "how about in your own personal journal?" I answer: "This is the only place where '4DaBoy' exists. There is no other vessel, no other well, no other journal for these thoughts." So, here we go... |

Peeka peek Ohhhhh, it's dark in here Ack!!! I haven't visited this grotto in a while. Not much lighter now than my last post of last November. But, there is evidence that even while the pandemic persists, life moves on. We are empty nesters once again. But this time it is different. The younger one, still in college, has not moved back to a dorm, but into an apartment. And to that apartment, some of the furniture that was here, most of the kid's possessions. The house is much emptier. This time, it is much more real - they are gone and no longer part of our day-to-day life. It's going to be a much harder adjustment this time...

Now that my libido has been trampled on to the point of near-death, I'm starting to realize just how gross most of the people on this site are. My only consolation is that the folks here are not really representative of the human race at large.

No doubt, I'll be driving home right into the snow squall. And, of course, I did. My life has gotten way too predictable.

The note on my computer says "Yoga & Piano". Modest goals. Life improvement. Can't seem to get there.

An irresistible force, water pouring down into the storm drain, catching leaves flowing down the gutter, pulling the leaves down into the sewer, under the streets, to the creek, to the river, to the ocean. Free.

Cold cold cold trees in black relief against a darkening sky wife in bed - not feeling well quiet and cold the wind worries

This is turning out to be "early evening thoughts" as that's when I have the time and (wife not home from work yet) opportunity to log on to this site. It's not the same...

Violins break through the crust of ice that coats the trees which crackle with the breeze. I shiver in step and set off to find a crust of break, and warm creamy soup to dip it in. The brisk breeze accents to smooth warm cream traveling down through my body. The touch sense takes over - all others senses fade in a warm glow.

To those for whom the suspense was killing you: the turkey, and everything else, came out great and a fine time was had by all. I love Thanksgiving. I love cooking, getting together with family and swapping stories, I love this time of year. Will start "night thoughts" in earnest shortly (sorry this has turned out to be a boring day journal so far).

Oh please let the turkey come out good and moist! Please, please, please...

Probably a bad time to start a night thoughts exercise. Family coming for Thanksgiving. Going to be hard to log into FriendFinder-x. Also, only thing on my mind is food preparation. Stuffing (first cooking) - check cranberry sauce - check ordered turkey (pick up Wednesday afternoon and brine overnight) - check pre-prepped grave - tonight's task Groceries on hand: string beans, broccoli, baking potatoes, sweet potatoes, lots of butter, several onions, fresh rosemary sage & thyme, various cheeses and crackers for pre-dinner, lemons, wine, prosseco, more wine. Relatives bringing pies and some kind of 'bread' and/or other desert (vanilla ice cream in the freezer) - and more wine. Can't have too much wine!
