I have no issue with a profile dick pic. A lot of men think it's what they're supposed to show....though I prefer it not be the main picture. However...nobody needs more than one! Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

That said: Address her by her handle Mention something that shows you read her profile Mention something about you that is potentially a deal breaker (give her an easy way to say "no" without awkwardness, it reduces pressure and makes it more likely for her to chat with you) Say something that stimules her intellect, curiosity or humour No typos, no text speak, use proper punctuation. I understand the stance on dick pics especially as the only or main profile picture. Even reversed I’m inclined to pass over a females profile with a close up of her vagina or tits as the only or main profile pics. I’m understanding that some like myself can’t/ won’t put face pics up for professional or personal reasons but more than just a sexual bodypart is a good start. Question for you though: I would think that asking how someone is doing or similar to open a message followed by more content is actually showing respect and a desire to try and connect. Provided it’s more than this one line am I thinking wrong?

The combination required varies between women but the principle holds true for all women. Therefore everything in your profile and messages must take this into account. Take your profile pic for example: maybe you're above average physique but the pic doesn't really display that. The location is dull. No doubt when you chose that pic you thought it was an honest (and discreet) representation of you. You're not wrong about that but it will do very little to make a woman feel safe or excited and is therefore worthless. You need to put enough thought in to make your message one of the top 10% most appealing. This is not difficult because of the large proportion of guys who put no thought in at all. I suspect that MsJane doesn't mean a message can't include the words "How are you?" just that it shouldn't be the whole message but I wouldn't say any of those phrases simply because so many other guys do so it makes you blend into the crowd. "What are you doing?" is a huge NO because it sounds like your next message will be an invitation to hook up.
