This time it is a more serious poll.

 It's not the site that is effective or not effective. It's just a medium, a tool. People either use it properly, or they don't know what they are doing here.

Using the site 'properly' is easy, in my opinion. You use it to communicate. If the site is 'not working', maybe poor communication is the reason.

What people consider poor communication depends on their personal preferences. By paying attention to personal preferences as they are stated on people's profiles, the rate of success will be higher.

For example, when someone begins their communication with me by saying "hi sexy" or "hi baby" I know they are poor communicators.
Others may find the same introductory phrases to their liking. However, I have already used the site and its various tools (profile text, bio, Questions and Answers, blog) to let others know that those phrases are not to my liking, among other personal preferences.
In other words, I have already communicated to the other users who I am and what I want (or don't want). Once they understand that, then if they do communicate with me, their chance of 'success' might be better than average.
