Morning

You told me you’ll come in the morning
Forgive me, I wait in despair
Our cynical hearts are adorning
What was taken and left to the air
The distance of space that’s between us
As slashing of knives in the dark
The daughters of light have not seen us
The edge of the blade made its mark
My room is a circular cavern
Why will it not stay bloody still?
I fancy myself in a tavern
But the cheque cannot cover the bill
I look to the moon in the evening
I know that I’ve told you before
The pale of glow always grieving
For its tide you’ve chose to ignore
I echo away in the slumber
Repeating myself from the past
The tally of shots, a phone number
It’s a wonder that I am to last
I stumble about in a warning
I whisper to those who don’t care
You told me you’ll come in the morning
Forgive me, I’m no longer there
