that's very unprofessional of them. The time I had a broken ankle no one would tell me anything until the dr spoke with me first. They told me they could lose their job if they did. Finally, the x-ray tech said: all I can say is if I were you I'd elevate your ankle as much as possible. Being polite is over rated these days. You should have told her about it on the first call. I will bet the dr will have excuses for her when you do speak about it.

All female and born this way ~!

I'm sure the Doc will make excuses for her, or for himself. The thing if found with ENT Doctor's is that they can be a little scatter brained at times. On my last visit he couldn't even remember the name of the assistant who was helping him, and at one point called out the door when he had finished with my exam calling for her by saying "Hey Nurse". So, I'm sure they, like most women of their profession, take up the slack for him by doing things before hand,or covering the bases that I'm sure he forgets to do at times.

I'm a retired nurse and I spent a number of years working in various physicians' offices and never had a doctor who couldn't remember my name; that's a little worrisome, lol. I agree, it was very unprofessional of them to call you before you had even spoken to the doctor about the results. I never worked for a doctor who allowed us to do things "beforehand" to save the doctor time; by law, we are not permitted to make a decision regarding treatment.
You may want to request a copy of your CT results and seek a second opinion before deciding on any surgery.
Had my appointment wednesday, the had to reschedule as he had an emergency surgery to do last monday. Anywho, he told her to call me, figuring that I already had the right mastoid done (eons ago) that I would have no problem scheduling the surgery to get the left done without having to hear the why's and where-to's from him before hand. As for second opinion, well he's the best in town, now that the Doctor who developed the surgical tech for the operation, and who did the first operation for me on my right mastoid has moved on to a larger practice in another city. I could see another, one who would be less qualified to do the surgery, but that would only cost me more money and probably refer me back to him. As for the CT scan, I have a copy of the film. Not that it tells me any thing..LOL

As I said ENT Doctors tend to be a bit off centered, think it's because they spend too much time in the labs when training and not enough time with the people who have the problems. Least he's better then the last guy, who treated me more like a case number than a person. This one actually talks to me not at, or about me like I wasn't even there.
