Is she of another culture,as sometimes that address is more of a respectful thing than an age thing. Its like the unfamiliarity of the two people. Perhaps if you get to know each other better ( smiles ), she can easily drop the 'sir'. Good Luck ~~

I like being called sir as opposed to more cutsie pet names at least until I get familiar with someone. Then I don't mind the baby or honey. Until then I prefer sir. It's merely being respectful I feel. At this point in my life I believe I've earned being addressed in such a way.

She may be southern. We got corrected if we did not address an adult that way. I still do it even though I am the ma’am status. It is not always meant as you are old, but as a respect or manners thing.
