It feels like a Wednesday for some reason? A dull day yesterday, worked cleaning stairwells all morning. The P.M. had been out looking at recently vacated units with my boss the prior Friday, seeing what kind of condition they'd been left in after the tenants moved out. Standard operating procedure really. But during their walk about the P.M. piped up with the fact that the stairwells were looking kind of dirty. Well the trap was sprung, at her observation my boss came back with " I told you that this would happen, when you wanted him (me ) to do more work other than his normal cleaning work. IE painting, more maintenance work, that his (my) cleaning work would suffer. She shut up quite quickly, after that and let the matter go. The thing is we are down two maintenance guys here since the new owners took over the property. One a full time painter ( we have a guy doing that now but he's only part time, and as an elderly guy works very slow at his job. Hence my having to pitch in and help the dude out in getting units painted and finished for showings Etc. The same is true with my having to do more maintenance work as well. With a guy missing who'd normally be doing the work I've had to pick up the slack. Now there is a lot I can do, I'm good at my job, I've been doing this type of work for over forty years. But, there are only so many hours in a day, and I can only wear so many hats at one time. It's your basic "You can't have your cake and eat it to" type of thing. I think now the P.M. along with the new owners are figuring that fact out. Well the horses have been led to the watering hole, lets see if they'll take a drink or not? That is, hiring some bodies to fill the open positions.

Am I worried the situation will come back and bite me on the ass? Not really. Without me working they'd really be up the creek without a paddle. As it is I'm at work in the mornings before the bosses even get here for the day, and I'm still here after they've gone home for the day. That, and the fact that if I wanted too I could always head out to Montana and work with my son's who at the present can't find workers to work at the brewery for them. Oh, and if that ever came to pass, I'd be making more per hour with the same or better health benefits to boot.

All I know is I'm tired. At the end of my day I'm sore and all I want to do is sleep. I'm also tired of doing more and getting paid the same amount. But the gall of the P.M. and the owners to think that I don't do enough when I'm giving one hundred and twenty percent, rankles to to end.

Any who, I'm off to shower now.

Ask for a raise and be prepared to go to Montana if they are stupid.
