Or , how to wake me up in the middle of the night. Sleeping away dreaming of red headed women ( it's always a red head ) I move in my sleep, and wham! Leg cramp. The kind of cramp where your calf muscle feels like it's turning inside out.

I didn't even bother trying to climb out of bed this time...I just pulled my hand out from under my pillow and reached back and massaged it till the cramp went away and then fell back to sleep. I don't know if the dream about the red head had anything to do with the cramp, I do know that I seem to be a bit more active ( moving around ) in my sleep when I am dreaming about one. {judging it by the condition my fitted sheet is in, usually un tucked and half way off the mattress in the mornings } Maybe if I started dreaming about Blonds I wouldn't get so many cramps waking me up at night? Nah, Red heads are more fun, no matter what the old adage says.

Then again the cramps could be that I'm missing something needed in my daily diet that I'm not getting? I don't know what that could be? I eat just about everything I should? Veggies, fish meat, fruit, grains...so I don't know what could be missing? It could be I'm just not having enough sex with red headed women? Now that's a daily supplement I would religiously take.

Any who, time for me to hop into the shower now..the muscle still feels kind of tight, I'm hoping the warm water will work the stiffness out some more....

I've read that drinking a glass of warm water Helps. Also taking Magnesium and/or Zinc Helps. I take Zinc & Saw Palmetto for one thing and OSTEO Bi - Flex for another !
In the meantime, Tomorrow (Friday) begins our 10 days of Cheyenne Frontier Days. As a Volunteer with the Public Relations Committee, starts 10 days of 10-to-12-hour days. As part of PR, I dress and portray a 75% period correct Old West Cowboy. After that is OVER, it is off to a 4-day Mountain Man Rendezvous! Will be off this site for about 2 weeks but looking forward to be back chatting with Ya All !!!

Drinking plenty of water helps me. I also once used magnesium oil and it seemed to help. There are meds which can cause cramps, so you might want to see your doctor if you have a new prescription and the cramps seemed to have started around the same time you started the med.

Nope no new meds here. She did up the dosage on my one, but I was having trouble with the cramps before she did that. Have a good one Anew...

Leg cramps can be a sigh of low potassium, are u taking any kind of diuretics for high blood pressure?
Maybe time for a blood test, that will tell u what those levels are?
After being downsized I was without any medical coverage but at least once a year I would have a complete blood work, that can show a good picture of ur body condition. Gatorade has a lot of minerals to help but not good for u if u have any diabetic symptoms.
Hope this helps.

I just had a blood test a few weeks ago. I usually get them twice a year so the Doc can keep track of the meds I'm on..see how they are doing etc. I'll have to mention to her about the cramps though....next time I visit the office....in October.

Have a good one ltrskr.

I get muscle cramps and spasms too. Drinking lots of water and taking magnesium helps.

Elevate me...

I don't drink a lot of water, when I do I usually do so because I'm thirsty. I don't care for most bottled waters, most having a taste like they have too much added to it .Leaving a metal taste in my mouth, like I've been sucking on a hand full of pennies. Found a new brand recently that has just a hint of fruit flavor, been drinking that brand as of late. Have a good one Hippiechick.

Cowboy can get atrocious cramps at night. He now eats a banana every day. Drinks about 6-8 ounces of tonic water with quinine. Wal Mart sells it by the liter bottle for less than a dollar. Doc told him to drink the quinine specifically before bed. I also put a magnesium supplement in with his daily pills. Following this regimen he is 99.9% cramp free. He was waking up in horrible pain 2-4 nights a week.
I hope your sleep improves

Sounds like Cowboy has or had it worse than I do. Glad he's doing better! Have a good one Pony!
