New IM

So my have cheat codes when they struggle with a new video game. Are we going to need cheat codes for the new IM or is it just my lack of tech skills?

I will keep navigating through it. Certainly appears to be an upgrade from their last IM.

 Definitely is different than the old IM system.
The problem I am having is that even when I put in filters so it shows people in my local area first, the filters seem to not work. I get people from Kenya, Portugal, Spain and Italy, not to mention other countries on the other side of the world. Same results under "Custom" and "Online" headings.
Unfortunately for me I live in western Canada... not even close to any of these people. Any suggestions how to get the filters to work so my local area shows first?

 the IM is definitely not working for me . maybe posting here could be a slow work around .
I'm not going to write you a lot since I just read you weren't interested in men but would like to know if anyone figures out how to communicate better.
