all the king's men

when I first started blogging, I was told by a fellow blogger that these two areas were off limits and sure to be the death of any blogger at FriendFinder-x. over the years as I found a following and found people I loved to read as well, politics and religion were often topics of discussion. how I wish some of those old friends were still blogging now during this current election season.

my FB page is drowning in propaganda for and against and I could spend hours commenting on posts. Instead I find myself drifting towards a new friend's posts - a hiphop artist and probably one of the busiest people I know. he works the streets to make sure everyone has what they need; a sandwich, a coat, a place to sleep that night, food stamps, a way to make art, someone to listen. he puts in at least 100 hours a week, more probably. runs a hiphop jam in the subway sunday afternoon that is all over the papers....it's poetry..it's brilliant, electric and you can check it out on youtube it's at park street station in Boston. he supports a gallery for new artists. a poetry night for the written word. he works with at a local agency. the man is a god to me. he talks to everyone on the street - really talks and better yet, really listens.

if you saw him and his friends walking towards you at night, chances are you'd cross the street. that's the shame in this.

here's the truth, we should cross the street if we see Trump.

if we see Justice, we should walk up grab his hand and thank him...he's doing the work of 100. He makes a difference every day. he lives in the light of intention and purpose and love. and he works his ass off for the little guy.

Trump and Clinton. I don't care who you are voting for but neither one of them can honestly say "i work my ass off for the little guy" or even that they give two cents for what the little guy has to face every day when they go out into the world.

they have never been little guys. nope.

ever read All the King's Men by Robert Penn Warren? If you have, you know where i'm coming from. if not, read it.

I am scared silly about this election. That Trump is considered a viable candidate gives me palpitations. are having nightmares because of the vitriol spewed by this man. foreign countries are either licking their chops in anticipation or shaking their heads at how low the USA has sunk.

and despite his misogyny, his hate speech, his lack of diplomacy, boundaries, good taste, morality, family values or a decent barber....he may become our president.

shame on anyone who votes for him....and remember when you do....whatever mess he gets us into, you asked for it.

Hillary........meh.

You cannot conceive the many without the one.

Trump is the only candidate that will work to keep America free. Clinton will follow Obamas programs to let wet backs & knuckle dragging sub human Muzzies take over our once glorious country. If that happens God help our Grand kids!!
Vote Trump if you love the United States Of America!!

I've written several posts about the candidates and why I am a "Never Trump" person. Sixteen months ago people worried that we were looking at the return of one of the family dynasties: Bush or Clinton and that in this great country of over 300 million citizens we should be able to identify other leaders capable of running this country. And now we're faced with a socialist, a criminal, or a complete moron.

The socialist believes that misery loves company so when we're all flat broke from paying taxes, and free college tuition, health care, housing, and whatever else he dreams up we'll at least have each other to commiserate with.

The criminal thinks the status quo is acceptable and that she doesn't have to follow governmental policies and rules because she's entitled to the position due to her gender. She's lied, endangered our national security and was responsible for the death of 4 Americans in Libya. She's technologically incompetent and illiterate which in the 21st Century is entirely unacceptable.

I worry about our future as a country and Trump does not have a single solution that is feasible and cost effective, let alone in our best interests. He is the antithesis of what this country has always believed and envisioned. He's a misogynist, a bully, a narcissist, an authoritarian fascist who appeals to the racists and white supremists who will put us on a violent and dangerous path due to his temperament, shallowness of thinking, and complete lack of principles and values.

Perhaps both parties should think of the "greater good" (America) and disqualify all of those in the race and start over with a clean slate.

do you watch HOuse of Cards? smiles

I too fear what this election will bring both domestically and internationally.

I swore if Bush was elected I would leave, this time I may actually do it if Trump gets in.

What I see missing in every single pro/con argument I've read lately, which all agree that things have to "change" in some way or another, is a viable plan for said change. How DO we elect someone who would represent "us"?

Is it possible that there is no walking these current ideologies and attitudes back and that our political system will have to complete break before something/one for the little people is even an option?

wickedeasy replies on 4/17/2016 12:43 pm:
there are many that would say the system has been broken for along time or that it has been "owned" for a long time. either way, I don't see that the current system allows for candidates that don't have money, power and influence to run for office, which is counter to the premise fo democracy.

that being said.........how do we the people find true representation

It's definitely one of those 'vote for the lesser of two evils' years. It's frightening to feel so powerless...I know MY state won't go for Trump or Cruz, but what about so many others?

wickedeasy replies on 4/17/2016 12:45 pm:
nor will my state but the scary thing is the wash into the public.

teachers talking about how children are being impacted.
the way in which public funding is already being impacted
philanthropy is down

the waves are washing ashore

I'm cursed with a multitude of Trump supporters on my social media page. It's quite disheartening. It's all name calling, badgering and pandering to the lowest common denominator. If you call them out on their "facts" they belittle and demean either you, or the source. The only source that matters is their source. I had one person call a fact checking site "an obama loving, liebural gun grabber" (It's not, it's a fairly balanced site) and continues to post blatantly slanted conservative propaganda as fact.

I've heard Trump supporters called ignorant. And while I don't believe that they all are, they are not using their intellect when it comes to their advocacy of the man. When he first announced I was stunned at the way he did it. It was so over the top and so jingoist that it appeared to be a parody or satire. And they ate it up. There was, and is, no substance there. When asked a series question about, oh say the economy, he mutters some nonsensical non answer and then says "I love our troops" and the wackos go nuts. He never answered the question. But that's okay because they share a common hatred, in this case, it's the media that's to blame. Oh excuse me, the liberal, mainstream, lying media, that's to blame. Later on in the speech they'll get to the Muslims and the illegal immigrants, and the corrupt Washington political elite. The Washington elite all hate him, because, in their deluded minds, he's a threat to their power, the idea that maybe they hate him because they know he's incompetent never crosses their minds.

I know this happens on both sides. But what bothers me about this more than anything else is that people I know and like, intelligent people, seem to be all too willing to shut their eyes and brains to what he's doing simply because they are mad.

At the last election I thought it couldn't get any worse. I was wrong. The thought of the next election is terrifying.

I try to stay out of the political pool. It has not been easy. I believe my vote is deeply personal. Therefore I try not to inflict my opinions. I can say, the war on women this political season is down right scary...and I don't mean I support Hillary. Hell would freeze. I mean woman as a reproductive entity. That is something I have to speak up about. I have daughters. I have seen my rights as a woman eroding. That scares me.

Hello my friend!
I have not participated in the blogs in 3 years, but after a recent conversation with another blogger (who is no longer active) I realized that 2008 was a great year to discuss the things we didn't dare discuss publicly.

I hope you're well and I think of there blogs often. You've always been an angel.

And by the way, I'm #FeelingTheBern, but will do "meh" if necessary. I'm sort of at the point of just don't let it be Trump.
