Standard membership what is the point?

Just activated this standard<b> membership </font></b>but really, what is the point?

You cant view messages

you cant view profiles

But you can post a blog.

Shows you how much value they put on blog posting.

I'm gonna resist upgrading for as long a possible.

Looking for a work around if one is available.

Kind of like a reach around with more value.
