How to produce clear, sharp and detailed photos and videos.

I offer this information purely to assist those of you that have problems producing clear, sharp, detailed photographs, videos or webcam sessions. If your photos, videos or webcams are not clear, or lacking in detail or sharpness, let me offer this advice.

Remember what they say in Hollywood: "Lights, Camera, Action." The positioning of the lights (or source of light) the camera and the subject that is being photographed or videoed, should follow those guidelines.

The lighting should always be behind the camera and the camera should always be facing the subject. The lighting can be regular lamps, overhead (ceiling) lights or natural light coming in from a window. If the camera is pointed at the person, with the lighting behind the person, the front of the person will be dark, and the detail will be lacking.

Example: the subject is on the bed, the camera is pointed at the subject, and the light is behind the camera, shining towards the subject. This will provide the clearest, sharpest and most detailed photo or video. Light shining into the camera lens will make the results dark and less detailed.

I am sure that maybe somebody will dispute this, but remember when you go to a professional photographer, the lighting is always behind the camera, or above the camera or to the sides of the camera, but always shining directly on the subject.
