Scammers Scammers everywhere

So along with my general learning curve on here comes the thing you older hands know all too well.

There are a bunch of people out there trying to get your money.

I wouldn't mind but it becomes disheartening when what looked like a potential friendship suddenly goes awry because you won't join a different website, or send them money.

As I'm clear in my profile, while a sexy talking or pic swapping friend would be nice, not to mention an in-real-life playmate, I'd be just as happy with a straightforward friend where we may not click on a sexual level, but we get on and can chat about stuff.

The most recent scammer, who I had been talking to fairly regularly for maybe 4 or 5 days, suddenly asked for a loan of $50. It's a small amount, and while it would set off alarm bells at the best of times, we had just this week had to fork out $1200 on glasses and dentistry for the , and both the wife's car and mine need work done. We're a single income household with a mortgage.

So she got a polite no, with an explanation of our situation.

Her response? To decide to cut off contact, calling me a bad friend. Ignoring the fact that she's unable to take no for an answer even when current financial woes are explained.

Not that I would have loaned her the cash either way. I've read enough about scammers and how they operate to know that it's a bad idea. At best, you're out $50, at worst you get strung along and throw good money after bad.

But it's annoying. While the time we chatted away was nice, it does feel like a waste of energy I could have put into someone real who deserves and would have appreciated my friendship.

Oh well, in the end the loss is hers. She lost a potential friend, didn't get her money, and hopefully while she was chatting to me she was able to rip off fewer other folks.

Anyone reading this who'd like a real friend, sexy or non-sexy, say hi
