An older passion and mode of travel of bygone days.

Some time back, seems like centuries ago, hitch hiking was an acceptable form of transportation. It was quite pleasing meet a vast array of individuals the road willing help out strangers reach their destination. The majority of rides I received were pleasant, informative, full of humor and indroduced another facet of life not available in any book or magazine. I met an instrument maker who specized in stringed instruments using methods from the past masters. The most impressive ride was a total surprise when a VW van pulled over, the drivers wife got into the back of the van with their and I rode shotgun in the front passenger side. It turned out to be none only but my childhood favorite, Captain Kangaroo, Bob Keeshan. He was coming back from a family vacation going back to New York. We traveled together for a few hours and discussed the current events of the day, the President of the United States-Richard Nixon, and a number of other political and ecconomic topics. It was the ride of a lifetime for me. My childhood hero driving me down the road and being a regular guy and deeply concerned man about the state of this country. I shall never be able to top this one, almost maybe except for the time I got a free fuck.
