Treat her like a lady
This is my double bass. I think of the bass affectionately as a female. I take great care of her and treat her with respect. When I touch her, its both tender and firm at the same time. When I play her, I start slowly, we both need to warm up, find our grove together. The more my hands<b> stroke </font></b>her, the more she responds, and the more I get lost in exploring everything she has, listening to everything she says. Also I am not afraid to slap her good and hard. To get the most of her, to get the most of me, us together I know I have to man handle her. Be willing to give her a few good slaps and drive her hard till I get the response and sounds I expect!
