Looking for Mr. Goodbar

Based on the novel by Judith Rossner, Looking for Mr. Goodbar is an interesting film loosely based on the life of a young, promiscuous woman who was brutally murdered by one of her playmates. It is a film that made many people uncomfortable for various reasons, but probably because it showed a young woman who was pursuing her sexual desires to the max during the sexual revolution of the 70's. This movie is one I would highly recommend, no matter how uncomfortable it may be for some people to watch. I think Diane Keaton's performance in the film was worthy of the Golden Globe nomination she received. Although she lost and was totally snubbed by the Oscars, I think Keaton's portrayal of a young, lost, sex-crazed woman who eventually becomes a victim to her desires is visceral. Watching her life become completely unraveled was most uncomfortable to watch at times, but it sure hit me like a truck at the end and that type of powerful blow in a film these days is rare. For this reason, I would highly recommend folks to watch and I would love to see it again. It is my understanding that it is no longer being released for sale so if anyone has a copy, please consider hosting a movie night get together were guests can watch the film. I know I'd definitely be there and I'd even supply the popcorn.
