The temps going back up into the fifties, the sun being out most of the day yesterday saw our recent snow fall vanish into the grass making it muddy and mucky. Not to worry the snow will be back, just when the soil starts drying up. I spent the day in two different units yesterday, finishing the pre clean in a townhome, then I was off to start the pre cleaning in a large two bedroom. Then I was off to re clean the laundry and gym for the second time that day.

When I finished re cleaning the gym, I went into the laundry to start cleaning in there, the minute I walked through the door a rather strikingly good looking woman stopped me and asked if I worked maintenance here. ( eye roll I always carry around a broom and lobby dust pan, along with a spray bottle of sanitizer and a cleaning towel ) Well it seemed she had an issue with not being able to pull the lint screen out easily enough due to the machine having too much built up lint on the collection grid that covers the screen itself. Telling her I clean the lint screens off twice everyday ( doing so because most of our tenants are too lazy or incompetent to do so them self. Though I didn't say that to her ) and I am not allowed to "service" the machines ( IE take them apart and wash off the grids as well as the complex doesn't own them ) She then suggested that I use a sweeper nozzle to suck out the built up gunk. Yeah, now why didn't I think of doing that? I did, it doesn't really work. Oh, you do get some of the stuff off sure, but most vacuum nozzles are too large to fit into the slot to get it all off or out. Letting her know of my efforts and getting poor results . she suggested a bottle brush to do the, now if I had a bottle brush that would help me out huh? Ugh! I understand her frustration and her concern about any possible build up of lint perhaps causing a fire. And I have pointed this out to both my Boss and the Property Manager on several occasions. Their response was to put up warning signs ( that nobody reads) to clean the lint screens off before and after they ( the tenants ) use the dryers. ( some do, some don't ) The signs go on to read any tenant caught on camera not cleaning the machines will be given a hefty fine, and or evicted if caught doing it again. That worked for a bit, as I said more tenants were doing the cleaning as requested, then they all started slacking off and we were back to square one again. Now it would be no problem for me to pull the lint grid and hose them down to get rid of the build up, I even suggested doing so to my boss, yeah as I said we don't own the machines, and are not supposed to service them in such a way, so that was a no from him.

I always try to be helpful when a tenant asks me something, if I can't fulfill their request I pass the issue along to the higher up's and let them handle it, or point the tenant in their direction and suggest to them that they take the issue their having to them themselves. Most of the time that's usually the better route to take, as I can point out theses things myself to them but.. well I've told you of my results when I do. Usually a tenant will get better attention than I do on such matters.

Of course the easiest way to solve the problem would be to have the company that owns the machines to come over from Ohio and really service them as they should be serviced. But what do I know? I've only been doing this type of work for forty years now....

Why would they not order the machines from local companies instead so service techs can fix them?... A custodians job is never done my sexy friend.. Have a good one Hun.xoxo

The new laundry area, and gym as well as the new office was built by the previous owners. Their main office was located in Ohio, so when they went looking for a company to supply the machines and to be the service people on them they looked Ohio. Have a good one my sexy friend.

SNOW !!! What is that ???? Supposed to be around 65 today and Weather Service is saying Low 70's tomorrow 😡🤬 People can be soo fun to deal with, NOT, when it comes to maintenance ! I worked in maintenance that had three office buildings ! Like you; I usually refereed them too Management Office unless it was a quick fix 🤠

Snow...white stuff that falls from the sky, usually when it's really cold out. Useful for making snowmen, snow forts, snow balls or snow angels if your brave enough to lay down in the stuff. I figured you'd be up to your eyeballs in the stuff by now living in Wyo. Enjoy the nice weather while you can Cowboy. Have a good one!

I guess I have done laundry so many years that I don't even think and automatically clean the lint trap. I don't understand the people that don't do it!

I don't understand them either? Given the fact that most of them are living on their own for probably the first time they really don't have a clue as to how to operate the machines, having their Mom's to do it for them at home. Have a good one Pony!

I guess maybe I could spay the yard with water and then make a leaf man or leaf fort rather than leave them as mulch for the winter and then clean them up in spring 😂🤠
