Half Naked Shoveling

Our taste of Spring didn't last long. This storm tracked right our way. No help from the Great Lakes this time. With the wind coming from the north we're getting extra lake effect snow, too.
I closed the shop early after I finished a few small projects. My driveway was clear in spots. Between the deep drifts. I shoveled the drifts away from the entrance porch and stairs and part of the driveway.
That's when I found these interesting drift lines.
It snowed even harder after I took the pictures. Three hours later I went out and shoveled more. By then the drifts had gotten bigger and the lines had been covered by new snow. Once the sun went down it got even colder and the snow got fluffier.
That's my exercise for the day. I feel good now. Energized. I'll sleep good. And I'll need it. I get to do it all over again in the morning!

Morning Update: Not too bad overnight. Most of the snow had fallen by time I was done shoveling last night. The plow had come by so I did have to clean that out of the end of the driveway. And I've had a good workout already! Without working up a sweat. Way too cold for that! That drift with the growth rings got bigger and there was still bare spot next to it this morning.

Another Wednesday - time to get half nekkid again! Yea!
Still experimenting with using a new camera. It is often easier - and quicker - than my other camera and it's timer. I can just click the mouse to get a snap shot. There's a bit of a trade off in image quality, a narrower color pallette, but it makes pretty good pictures. Especially for web sharing. And it does very well in low light, indoor shots.
So here I am in two different variations of wearing green -

Pretty good image quality, don't you think?

Trying out something new this week. A new camera system, a new way of taking HNW selfies.
Still learning it's capabilities and limitations. And possibilities. As usual it sill took multiple tries to get something close to what I was going for.

Just me and some of my favorite books.
The days are getting longer and even with snow on the ground can you tell I'm getting an itch to start hiking again? Got a car big enough to put my bicycle in now so I'm looking for good bike trails, too.
I couldn't decide which picture I like best. But now that we can post more than one picture I don't have to choose and you can decide for yourself.
By the way, That composition notebook is one of my Dad's inventor's notebooks. He tinkered in his retirement and patented a kind of bird feeder. It didn't make money for him but he was proud that it was an idea worthy of a patent.

Why Can't The Super Bowl Be More Like the LFL?

I think they would get more women interested in watching the Super Bowl if the NFL took a hint from the Legends Football League (formerly known as the Lingerie Football League).
Aren't athletes in these uniforms much more fun to watch than what they wear in the No Fun League?
The action is so much more interesting.
I found a lot of pictures of guys playing soccer in their undies. I guess the guys who play that kind of football are braver than their American counterparts. But here's a hint of what the NFL might want to strive for.
Or maybe this.
Now, wouldn't that make the Super Bowl really super?

Looking Out My Back Door - There's Snow!

Just to remind us it's not December anymore January has started by laying a thick blanket of snow on us to get us nestled in for a long winter.
I shoveled last night. It was STILL snowing. And it was cold and windy. We're were a little bit lucky though. It looks like a lot more than it is. It's all very light and fluffy snow. So shoveling wasn't nearly as much work as it could have been.
Whatever your thoughts on snow, if you live where it falls you have to deal with it. And if you have to shovel it be careful. I used to love January snow. December snow melts and goes away but January's snow is here to stay. And I used to make things out of it. I don't shovel as much as I did in those days but I still appreciate the exercise I get from from doing it. And I treat it as exercise. I don't let my heart rate get too high. I work steady at it, not fast. It's easy to overdo it. If you're getting out of breath or working up a sweat you're probably overdoing it.
I got done shoveling about 9 last night. After I went in and warmed up my face I got my new handy dandy table-top-to-fullsized tripod out (Santa brought it for me) and took these photos of the snow at night. These were done with a 2 second exposure at ISO 100.
