For Those Who Love Dewormer

One of the battle cries of the antivax right wing dimwits has been that Big Pharma is suppressing the horrible things the vaccines are doing and preventing acceptance of the animal parasite treatment, Ivermectin. They claim are multiple studies that prove Ivermectin is safe and effective for the treatment of Covid 19, but Big Pharma is keeping a lid on . The debate is raging on the precision rifle board I frequent, so me being me, I decided think this stuff through. I've already covered the horrible side effects (like getting shot) of the vaccine, so let's talk about Ivermectin.

First, let's follow the supposed trail. The three manufacturers of the current Covid vaccines are Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, and Moderna. The first two both revenue in the $40B range, where Moderna is less than $B. Merck, the maker of Ivermectin, is of similar size the the first two. For the sake of this article, I'll stipulate that talks and buys influence. Moderna isn't large enough more than a few advocates in positions of power. However, the other three are different stories. Considering they're of similar sizes (huge) I can guarantee you that Merck has just as many government shills in their pocket as J&J and Pfizer and thus, a similar level of influence. Therefore, if Merck wanted to board the Covid gravy train, they'd no trouble doing so.

But they don't want . In fact, they don't recommend Ivermectin for use as a treatment or preventative action against Covid. From their website:

Merck (NYSE: MRK), known as MSD outside the United States and Canada, today affirmed its position regarding use of ivermectin during the COVID-19 pandemic. Company scientists continue to carefully examine the findings of all available and emerging studies of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19 for evidence of efficacy and safety.

It is important to note that, to-date, our analysis has identified:
- No scientific basis for a potential therapeutic effect against COVID-19 from pre-clinical studies;
- No meaningful evidence for clinical activity or clinical efficacy in patients with COVID-19 disease, and;
- A concerning lack of safety data in the majority of studies.

We do not believe that the data available support the safety and efficacy of ivermectin beyond the doses and populations indicated in the regulatory agency-approved prescribing information.

In conclusion, Ivermectin could be a recommended treatment, if the manufacturer wanted it to be, but they don't. Tell me again how a bunch of flawed studies and right wing looneys know more than the manufacturer?

It boils down to choice, and for a great number of people it has worked. People that took the jab are still getting covid. If you want the Gov't to dictate what you can and cannot put in your body then go ahead and suckle up. This shit is here to stay and will have many variants. Some will die and others wont, thats life.

I think someone missed the boat when they STOPPED promoting Clorox injections. It would have accomplished two things. Culling of a herd by removing the feeble of mind would have strengthened the planet — as a whole.
And Proctor & Gamble stock would have taken an uptick.

I could use any help I can get with my portfolio. 😶❗

As I've sad before, allowing the antivaxxers to skip the shot would be natural selection at its finest, but unfortunately, we're all suffering as a result of their inability to think for themselves.

"it boils down to choice" is the cry of the antivaxer!
so why is it that they feel they have the right not to get the vaccine
yet
i do not have the right to exclude them from being near me?
yet another cry of the antivaxer is "the pharmaceutical companies created this pandemic to make more money... yet they never thought of checking who makes
Ivermectin..... ironically, is another Merck drug.
nothing like feeding the devil you're trying to starve!

I'd only use horse dewormer to deworm horses!
AstraZeneca also manufacture vaccines against covid. Another great public service post.

Thanks! Just doing my part.
I have no delusions of being able to change the minds of the willfully ignorant, but I'm hopefully making an impact on those sitting on the fence.

A little confusing. So, only right wingers refuse the vax and lefties take it.
Ergo, libs are much more intelligent. Trying to figure it all out, we hear so much.
No sarcasm….it is truly not easy to know how to go. The noise is deafening.

New2Midlo replies on 10/21/2021 8:18 am:
If only it were that easy. Not all right wingers are anti vax or consider a mandate to be tyranny. You may remember me relating how the small group of guys at my rifle club were all pro vaccination and pro mandate. Trust me, this was a conservative group. Personally, I think it's whatever the rule is that says that the only voices that get amplified are the extremes on either side of an issue. I'm the exception in that I'm far from an extreme; I just got tired of the dangerous stupidity being tossed about and decided to speak up.

That being sad, the ones proliferating the false information and taking issue with being vaxxed tend to lean hard right, or at least they think they do.

Ummm...define "great number". And what's your source for this information?

You might check out the National Institute of Health's National Library of Medicine's National Center for Biotechnology Information's pubmed website, (pubmed dot ncbi dot nlm dot nih dot gov), especially numbers 33,592,050, 34,513,470, 34,513,523, 34,375,047, 34,418,758, 33,278,652, and the articles PMC8,088,823 and PMC8,415,512. (Remove the commas)

As to Merck downplaying Ivermectin, consider--
1) the patent on Ivermectin expired in 1996. Merck now produces less than 5% of the global supply, and a generic is available;
2) Merck has asked the FDA for Emergency Approval of its new oral Covid 19 tablet.

New2Midlo replies on 10/21/2021 3:57 pm:
From what I can tell, NIH is hosting any and all of the studies on Ivermectin, but neither the NIH nor the CDC are anywhere close to recommending it for use with Covid 19. In addition, none of these studies has been accepted for having proper methodology. Some commentary on the big one that everyone points to.

Fair point on Merck. I was aware of the drug they have in development, but not that they no longer had IP protection on Ivermectin.

BTW, I appreciate being engaged with facts in a civil manner. Thank you.

One of the points some Ivermectin proponents have made is that it's approved for use in humans, so why not "officially" approve it for Covid treatment. Yep, it absolutely is used in humans! There is a "version" of Ivermectin that has a regime prescribed to treat parasitic infections in humans. However, that medication is dosed differently than the deworming version sold at the local feed store. It's never been recommended that someone calculate a dose for humans based on the feed store product. Further, the "human Ivermectin" version is largely used in less developed countries where parasitic infections are more prevelent. Well developed countries--1st world nations--like the US, the UK, most of Europe, Canada and others do not have these concerns.

I'd be all for trusted, validated, and proper scientific data supporting the efficacy of Ivermectin treatments for Covid. I mean...why not have more options so people can have their "choice"...yanno..."freedom". *eyeroll* Until that happens, though, this is nothing more than the old wives tale of putting butter on a burn.

Fun to read your posts. I agree with one of your points that it’s useless to argue with many on the other side…their ability to separate politics from real meaningful thinking is gone.
