Permissions/Features for Gold Members

So, I am not a Gold Member but was considering joining. Then though it seemed that I lost the ability to respond back to Gold Members that had initiated a conversation via email/messages (not IM).

Is it correct that if I am a paying Gold Member and I email a non-member they will not be able to email me back?

Changing profile to couple ???

So, didn't think about this when I started a profile but I set it up as a single male knowing I would change to couple but now wondering if all of the info I input for will disappear when I change to Couple status.

Anyone know the answer?
