First Bowie, now Glen Frey

This has been a sad start to the new year. Bowie was that guy that you just could not put in a box. I will always think of him singing, "here am I sitting in a tin can, far above the world, planet Earth is blue and there's nothing I can do" How can you forget Heroes? A love song that you really do not realize is one. He left an stamp on glam rock. Then there is Modern love. Then toss in one of my favorite Christmas songs of him and Bing Crosby singing. He worked with Eno and Fripp. When I was younger I never followed him durning his Glam then androgenous phase. At the time it was just to weird for me. I think I might have missed something. I remember watching this video where he lets Adrian Beleuw play on stage with his band. It was this really funky blues number. He just slides off to the side of the stage and watches. You could see it was not about Bowie but it was about the music.

It was always about the Music for Glen Frey. No stage show, make up or props. Like Bowie his voice was clear and understandable. But soulful and sweet. He sang songs about life. He liked harmony and being on time with a back ground vocal. He wrote plainly of love, loss, want and anger. I do not think he saw his music as changing anything in the world, well except maybe ' Get over it'. Don Henely called him my brother and said that even the bands break up of 14 years changed nothing. There are so many feelings I get hearing Desperado. I remember going to Hockey practice in High School and hearing New in Town, so much I got sick of it. Other Eagle songs I never got tired of. They are like old friends.

So where does this take us? Well I guess the message is be yourself. You can show your other side. Music may not change the world, but it can make it better. Dave and Glen you have earned a well deserved rest, RIP. Sit back in heaven and see how the rest of us pick up from where you left off.

So Christmas is almost upon us. New Years is not far behind. This Year I think I am working on my shop. Strange choice? Not really. I have been dreaming about getting my shop together for several years. I lost my old shop, went through a period when I did not have the money to work on it. Now the floor has been poured for a year. Slowly it is coming together. Step by step. Hard to believe in one way. Yet it is finally happening. Much like the Holidays. I remember the times as a . Christmas never got here! The wait and the dream of what was to come. The magic was getting that special thing. As I got older it became the magic of finding that right gift for someone else. My parents and grandparents are all gone now. My is gone from my life. Thank God my ex has left me alone! Family to me has a different feel. I have people around me that may not be my blood, but they are more family to me than others of my own relatives are. I give more today than I ever receive back. That is fine with me and I am content with this.

Magic, how do you define it? One way is to make dreams real. I guess I just am realizing that magic can happen any time of the year. Gifts are one way. But gifts need that love to go with them. So my magic to myself is my shop. Maybe it will breed some magic of its own in the future.

So to all, Merry Christmas. If you see a light in the shop, be happy for me.

So here it is the middle of Dec, 50 degrees outside, pouring rain and as I am traveling to work this Big, beautiful, bright full rainbow pops up right next to me. As I am driving along the end is going thru a field, behind houses, in front of woods and across the Turnpike. I thought of the pot of gold, but alas its just an illusion. A fleeting view of something unattainable. Lovely to view but impossible to hold. Much like a dream.

How do I tell the Holidays? Snow, nope, cold, not really, Shopping areas filled with idiots running about, err some what. No I tell when the Red Salvation Army kettles come out.
Myself every time I go by one I drop in a dollar. You want to create real change and a positive impact in your community? Then feed the red kettle! Forget the Red Cross. They suck. As the years have went by, I have heard story after story about the Red Cross. Not one was ever good. I am sure someone out there has a bad story about the Salvation Army, but I have never heard one. These folks get more done with a Dollar than anyone else. A few years ago I saw an Article on what the heads of non profits make, On the top end was the Red Cross, way down on the bottom end was the head of the Salvation Army.

So jingle, jingle feed the kettle this year, would ya?

We here sit on our hands. Oh we lob some more bombs just to show how angry we are. So when is all off Europe and the states going to finally realize the danger of the Islamic fanatics? These are not your peaceful Muslims. They are , thieves and thugs. Follow the stories from areas that have been liberated from ISIS. The true color of their flag shows through, BLACK!

War is truly a terrible thing. It must be prevented at almost all costs. There does come a time that when people that can not be reason with are taking matters in their own hands, must be stopped. We and Europe must unite and destroy ISIS. We need to go into Iraq and Syria with overwhealming force and stomp out this cancer. This a simple, are you with us or against us. A war crimes investigation should be set up and investigate crimes as the war goes on. A handful of troops and a few bombs are not going to work. This needs to be an all out war on evil. Pure and simple, we are not here to purge all of Islam. We are here to remove the cancer that does not follow your teachings.

We need the French Foreign legion on the ground along with other troops. We need a well supplied army fully fighting along with local friendly troops. We needed to be there before this happened to Paris. How much longer do we wait?

Is anyone else out there tired of the minute to minute coverage of the R and D's? I know its a an important race but this constant picking by all these news stations is such a turn off. By some chance could we get some real news for awhile?

Just a thought while I enjoy some fall color.

One of the things I have enjoyed over the years is having other members contact me. I have met some interesting people. Now it appears that this has been dashed by the new recent changes on here.

So the old saying, if its not broke do not fix it, seems to escape our owners. So as much as you desire to play this line about how you are doing this for gold members, we can see through your lie. Its greed, pure and simple. So now even if you pay for gold, standard members can not even read your email. So how does this help Gold members?

When I first joined on here there was Gold and silver memberships. Silver was enough for me and fit into my budget. So here is my plan.... first fix your site. This strange thing of People choosing not to auto pay, then have someone or something turn the auto pay back on is crooked. Putting people profiles on other sites is crooked. One could charge far less and get more people to pay for memberships.

Odd summer

Well for those of us living here in the Midwest it has been and odd summer. A wet cool spring and early summer left me unable to get things fully planted. It also stopped me from weeding. So as I wade through the weeds I find slim to nothing for harvest. So it looks like canning is out. So I now am weighing my ideas for next year. Raise the garden or put in a tile? Then maybe double digging? Hmmm choices, choices. I have more to finish before the snow flies. Tile around the out building, preping two new flower beds for next year.

It has been an odd year in my life also. First a hernia now for the past several days a case of vertigo has left me unable to do much of anything. Not much play time this summer either. Not sure why, just not very interested.

So anyone else feeling the summer?

So I am working in my basement on my My new room. Last night it occurred to me how much building lingo is also sexual lingo. There are studs, keepers, screw and pound. Shave, hung , pad and nail.

Which leads me to thinking about sex like building. You need your foundation. Trust , Then your plates and anchors, foreplay. Then the floor, walls and roof, lots of pounding, slamming, screwing there, lol. At the end every good builder steps back and views his work, afterglow.

Which leads me to the sad question, Why is my hammer suddenly seem sexier and getting more sex than I am?

What in the hell is going on with people driving these days? Why do people drive like they are at a NASCAR race? I just got back home from a quick trip. I had idiots almost take my bumper off cutting in front of me. Drafters, One guy that passed me at a ramp on the ramp lane then cut me off. Do they teach driving anymore??
