Here in the modern world yoga is mostly associated with the practice of postures or a form of breathing and emotional exercises to alleviate stress. The thoughts are it allows a healthy and pleasant mind to produce chemical messengers, which travel to the immune system, resulting in an overall betterment of mind and body. It is believed that how we breathe can have a profound effect on our emotional and physical health.
Few of us breathe properly as we go about our daily business; anxiety, stress can cause our breathing to become shallow. Full deep breathing counteracts the bad breathing habits when overstressed and is much better for the mind and body and your overall health. A couple of weeks ago; I obtained a few of the emotional/breathing exercises and added them to my daily routine that also includes exercising and walking. These exercises take between 10-12 minutes and I do them while driving to and from work. I found they stimulate the nervous system, I’m in a more relaxed state, it’s been easier to put things in perspective and it has helped relieve everyday stress and tension.
