So Hamas has the Gaza Strip and Fatah holds the West Bank. I wonder if Hamas will keep up their rocket attack on Israel now that they actually fully control Gaza. Cuz you know Israel will only take so much before rolling the tanks in. And Abbas can't do much since the two areas are now basically two separate governments. Hamas can't hide behind the Palestinian govt anymore. Cowards. Looters and murderers. What truly bothered me was that they executed several men with shots to the head at close range and threw another off a roof.

I feel bad for the people in Gaza for having to suffer with international sanctions due to Hamas' terrorist tendencies. Then maybe I don't feel so bad... these are the same people who cheered on 9-11.

Truck limits?

Did I hear that right? They are thinking of limiting trucks to the right lane only? And 55 mph? From the radio, it sounded like people don't like trucks passing them, or slowing down in the passing lane.

What are these folks thinking? Most truckers drive
better than the people in cars. Yes, they may slow
down up a hill, and may go faster downhill, but
that's what gravity does. I think it will be more
helpful if drivers in cars actually paid more
attention to the task of driving and the traffic
around them. We're all trying to get down the
road, and it's a shared road. I see too many
folks playing with gizmos in their cars or
on the phone than keeping track of the traffic
around them.

I wonder if this is going to affect pickups and
SUVs. If they limit large vehicles, they should
also include pickups and SUVs in this "right lane
only" category.

"You will only drive as fast as I do"

What is it with some men in their pickups? I'll admit it, I drive over the speed limit. Normally around 5 to 10 mph over the stated limit. And I'll pass if I can.

But these boneheads treat driving as some game. If you pass them because they are going slower than you, they have to pass you and then slow you down. Make up your F'in mind a-hole. Either drive fast or drive slow! I hate a jack-ass that has to get in front of you and then starts to hit the brakes.

I don't care if you drive faster than me. I always
pull to the right lane when vehicles come up on me. Actually, I prefer to see people going faster than me. It's a nice speed trap filter.

But when I pass you in my little "4 banger" and
you are in your monster truck, "suck it up" already! I know you have more acceleration and power in your overpriced "truck". You don't need to be a compete a-hole on the road.

On "y o u p o r n" . Add the 3 w's and the dot "c o m" in the appropriate places and remove the extra spaces.

Funny, I found this site from a news article earlier in the week. Since I have not seen the "Paris" videos, I was able to view parts of them here. I didn't watch the entire thing since it's fairly lengthy.

Maybe it's just me, but, I don't find tattoos on older people very attractive. There was this grey haired guy at the gym in a tank top with a tattoo on the back of his shoulder and the first thing I thought of was "Dude! Cover that thing up!".
Then there's the old guy in his (at least) 70's wearing a mesh top. I give him credit for still lifting, but I don't think anyone wants to see a wrinkly senior in a mesh top.
I must just be old fashioned. A t-shirt and shorts covers what should be covered in the gym. Although I do like the "sport bras" the women wear

Almost ready

Almost ready to update my pics. Have to put on a few more pounds first. Gotta stop dropping weight. I can lose 8 pounds in one week but it takes nearly 2 months to get it back. I wonder how much I have to eat on a daily basis to put on an additional 10?

On a different subject, I was on the receiving end of an attractive smile. She's pretty average in looks normally, being very serious in her workout. But up close, her smile really lit up her face. It was a good way to end a workout. You may think there are better ways to end a workout, like sex for example. But after a hard day at the gym, "junior" is pretty useless.

It turns out that "over the air" broadcast HDTV signals around Pittsburgh are in the UHF range. So all you need is a UHF antenna to get free HD signals on your HDTV (assuming it has a built in digital tuner). Tried it out on a buddy's TV with a set of "rabbit ears" and all the major stations come in (CBS, ABC, NBC, PBS, FOX, CW). A good reference is "antennaweb dot org" for a listing of your local broadcast stations.

Eventually I'll get a HDTV and a little UHF antenna. Prices are still coming down

Cleaning out someone's cluttered Inbox for backup and came across this old email. As a citizen of a secular western nation, I abhor the idea of a religious group using its position to try to distort society into its ideal image of a patriarchal, religious world. Islam may be in the news now, but Christianity and the religious right is doing the same thing. To force society to follow writings of men several centuries past is pure insanity. My observations of people of "faith" is that they have turned over their capacity of reason to their religion. It is far easier to turn over the responsibility of rational thought to others so I can sit on my widening ass to watch TV.
Enough ranting for now. Continue to read if you like, but keep in mind where Christianity was 800, 500, 400, and even 70 years ago.

Muslims fly commercial airliners into buildings in New York City and Washington, murdering 3000 innocent people in a single day. No Muslim outrage.

Muslim officials block the exit where school girls are trying to escape a burning building because their faces were exposed. No Muslim outrage.

Muslims cut off the heads of three teenaged girls on their way to school in Indonesia. A Christian school. No Muslim outrage.

Muslims saw the head off a screaming, struggling Wall Street Journal reporter with a butcher knife while a proudly capturing the entire episode on videotape. No Muslim outrage.

Muslims saw the heads off further hostages from America, Britain, Italy, and elsewhere - including a woman hostage - again while gleefully performing for the videocam. No Muslim outrage.

Muslims murder teachers trying to teach Muslim in Iraq. No Muslim outrage.

Muslims murder over 80 tourists with car bombs outside cafes and hotels in Egypt. No Muslim outrage.

A Muslim takes offense at a film documenting the barbarous treatment of women in the Muslim world. He publicly butchers the Dutch filmmaker on the streets of Amsterdam in the name of Allah. No Muslim outrage

A Muslim attacks a missionary 's school in India and murders six. No Muslim outrage.

Muslims slaughter hundreds of and teachers in Beslan, Russia. Muslims starve, torture, and shoot in the back in the name of Allah. No Muslim outrage.

Muslims take to the streets to celebrate the 33rd anniversary of the kidnapping and murder of athletes at the Munich Summer Olympics. No Muslim outrage.

Muslims murder more than 50 commuters in attacks on London subways and buses. Over 700 are injured. No Muslim outrage.

Muslims massacre dozens of innocents at a Passover Seder. No Muslim outrage.

Muslims murder innocent vacationers in Bali. No Muslim outrage.

Muslim men throughout Sweden, Norway, Britain, France, Australia, and other Western countries engage in an epidemic of hundreds of gang of young local women - claiming that Western girls deserve it because the won't cover themselves with burkas. No Muslim outrage.

Muslim newspapers publish vicious anti-Semitic cartoons. No Muslim outrage

Muslim leader of Iran declares his intention to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. No Muslim outrage.

Muslims are involved, on one side or the other, in almost every one of the 125+ shooting wars around the world. No Muslim outrage.

Muslims beat the charred bodies of Western civilians with their shoes, then hang them from a bridge. No Muslim outrage.

Muslim youths create an exhibit of an Israeli pizzeria after a suicide bombing, featuring scattered body parts, blood-splattered walls, and a sign reading "Hamas pizza is better!". No Muslim outrage.

Newspapers in Denmark and Norway publish a handful of cartoons depicting Mohammed. MUSLIMS ARE OUTRAGED.. Dead . Dead tourists. Dead teachers. Dead doctors and nurses. , burning, destruction, mayhem, and death around the world at the hands of Muslims ... No Muslim outrage ...

Idle blog....& some info on PC recycling

It's been a long time since I've written anything here. Most of it can be considered personal rants. So, basically, it's all junk.

So where have I been? Too busy for my tastes. I moved apartments, got laid off, took some time interviewing, took time to do some manual labor for relatives, started a new job, tax season headaches, personal financial housecleaning, and a lot of (personal) computer work. I still have a bunch to do, so this blog may/will go idle for long periods.

One thing that kills a bunch of time is "dumping" an old PC. Firstly, you don't want to just toss it in the trash. Metals in the parts tend to be environmental hazards. So recycling is best. Luckily, the Goodwill in the Pitt area accepts old computers at no charge. But, before doing that, the hard drive needs to be wiped. Any passwords, financial account data, personal ID (social security numbers) or tax data, needs to be erased from the computer. A simple "empty trash can" will not do it. Why is this important? Because anyone who gets their hands on the hard disk can recover your data. Recycling centers do not have the time to securely erase hard drives. And a simple format c: won't cut it either. One program to securely erase your disk is "Darik's Boot and Nuke" aka "DBAN". It's even got it's own wikipedia entry. As a truly paranoid move, I follow up with several passes using "badblocks" from a bootable linux CD.

Being the "family geek" means I get to clean up everyone's computer mess. Which means every old computer's hard drive comes my way. I can't wait until one of my nephews or nieces get old enough to take over.

I almost forgot... The only known way to totally make the data unrecoverable is to physically melt the hard drive platters. You probably don't want to do this since you'll be dealing with molten metal.

Now it's time to log off and have some lunch

This time of year is always busy. Between travel arrangements, "sales" and shopping, and end of year computer service,... too much going on.

So, I was leaving the gym floor, going into the locker room to wash my hands and get into street clothes, and this "" is standing in front of the mirror "preening" before hitting the floor. WTF is up with that? He's got his ipod loud enough I can hear it, "basketball" shirt and below the knee "hip" shorts. What happened to a clean t-shirt and regular shorts? This is not a fashion shoot. There are some older guys who do the same thing. They gotta get the hair just right before steppin onto the floor. And they have crappy lifts. For me, the lift is more important than the "looks" at the gym. The only thing I check is 1) shirt tucked in and 2) shorts on. I should really check my shorts are on before I close the locker, and not as I exit the locker room. (mental note to check earlier)

And then there's a new "" at the gym. Actually, there are a bunch of new faces, but this stuck out because he spent most of the time on his cell phone. Annoyed a bunch of us "regulars". Scrawny with a tattoo on the arm and a muscle shirt. What a joke! Don't get me wrong, scrawny are welcome at the gym. I'll gladly "spot" them or let them "work in", as long as they are respectful of the environment.

And another thing.... conversations at the gym can get weird. Not mine, but what I hear. Two guys talking about "what he said", "I can't believe he said that", etc... I think they were gay. No mention of a "she"/"her". Then there are the "" and their "does she like me?", "does she know I/he likes her?", "so and so slept with so and so",... ARGHHH! Are these people so clueless that they can't talk about something interesting? Or at least funny? Well, not too funny. I almost dropped a dumbbell on my head while some guys were cracking jokes. I think it was something about pussy and clapping.

Well that's enough for now. Hopefully I'll get more free time write here.

If there is one thing that makes my life easier, it's gotta be my microwave. I heat up meals in it, oatmeal for breakfast, boiling water for tea, and hot turkey or ham sandwiches for lunch in the winter. And it's fast, which is nice when you are really hungry. Granted, some things are best reheated by other means, but most of my cooking is microwave reheatable. Quick and easy... just like me.

Perusing the listings (not profiles since I've got no "balls" ) and came across a pic and thought.. "What the heck is that?". Looked at it sideways, left and right. Is it upside down? Should I be aroused or disgusted? I don't know. It's getting late and I've got to do the dishes...
