To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've
wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I

It's a new year.
Changes are inevitable.
And sometimes necessary.
We'll see what these first few weeks bring.
I don't have a desire
To make resolutions
Declarations of change
I know what I continue to need
I do reflect on the past
And I see so much has changed in just a short time.
I feel the possibilities of the future slipping away
As the inevitability of time approaches
Small things at first, but slowly growing larger.
I haven't changed the core of my beliefs
Ultimately I think I'm the same person at the center
Although the thought of that not being true
Provides a bit of fear about loss
And what life is really all about.
I so want what is best for my friends
For each of them to find happiness
Contentment and purpose
I've never been a traditional thinker
And perhaps I haven't always communicated effectively
Shrouding a piece of myself.
Seeming cryptic at times.
I find solace in the fact
That I ultimately tried to make things better
And tried my best to cause no pain
Perhaps I've failed at times
It was not my intent.
I've always seen the positives
And never worried about the negatives
Because they really were not
As negative as perhaps you've believed
I've tried to fight against sadness
Depression, worry, and doubt.
To be a light to suppress the darkness
Before finding the chance to take hold.
As the world grows older
Colder. Darker
I hope to find
Reflections of that light.
To provide a little comfort
And solace in my life.
