Won't You Take Me To... CRUNCHYTOWN!

Yeah, so we up and moved to Vermont.

No joke. Finally escaped Long Island. (Thank Buddha!)

Observations so far:

1. Average car:
Suburu? Check.
Obama '08 sticker on bumper? Check.
Dead deer on the roof? Check.

2. It's a little nippy.

3. The food is *awesome*.

4. You could tell someone you were growing your own heirloom seaweed in a hand excavated pond to make herbal pottery cleaning products and they'd reply that their cousin does that already and give you tips on how to keep the rabbits from eating it all.

So far I like it.

(Ask me how I feel in January.)

Oh My...Vermont. What a lovely place to live...until it starts snowing and never stops ever and all you see is white and people in penguin suits heading to MT Snow to ski and you wish they'd all just fall off the f**king mountain but they don't and you wonder if your neighbors have moved because you haven't seen them in FOREVER and you wonder if the sun will ever shine again enough so that you can actually get warm again and then miracle of miracles it does and you see that your neighbors really didn't move they just never came out because it was to f**king cold. Vermont...a lovely wonderful place to live.

**really...it is, people are so friendly there and full of helpful advice. AND DAMN LB...I just realized...you've moved CLOSER to our most beloved of all **drumroll please** BEN & JERRY'S. woo hoo!! Glad to see you both are happy, and now I know you'll want that beach vacation soon.!! Love to you both!!

I make mistakes, I am out of control & at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best. ~Marilyn

How fucked up is this: Mt. Snow is actually three hours SOUTH of where we are. We're almost in Canada FFS. I know... we're totally going to freeze and die this winter. I'm already searching for phototherapy lamps. Working night shift doesn't help- I'll never see the sun!

Yes, and I was all loving Ben & Jerry's too until I realized that they're complete fucking sellouts! They sold out to Unilever years ago. I was completely gutted when I found out. We went down to Waterbury to check out the factory bc it's one of those "must- do" touristy type things. But I thought it was a bummer. And don't go on the tour because it's just a room with a bunch of pipes and steel container things. At the end you get ice cream, but it's just like 3 bites.

They show this movie at the beginning of the tour that supposed to be all warm and fuzzy about the cool humble beginnings of two burnouts from Long Island just trying to pay the rent by making ice cream downtown. Blah Blah Blah "And now look at how successful the company has become!" Ben and Jerry retired and are just ceremonial type people now. They're probably living their stoner dreams rolling around on beds made of pot having hula girls bring them beers.

Good for them, but it's just depressing. For example, they made a special limited edition pumpkin pie flavor for Thanksgiving and sold the whole batch exclusively to WALMART. They didn't even give any to our co-op downtown. Just down the street from where the original shop was! I almost cried.

I oughtta write a letter.

But other than Ben & Jerry's shattering my happy dessert-related illusions, it's been great!

Cozy- Yeah, it actually is beautiful. Probably the closet we can get to living someplace like New Zealand on the east coast.

Compared to NY there's NO people here. It's great.

I'm trying to get psyched (and prepared) for winter. I haven't been skiing a lot the past few years at all and this is definitel the place for it. And with my shiny new health insurance- I might just take up snowboarding as well...

Welcome to VT. Just rated #1 healthiest state in the U.S.!!

Give a holler if you need to warm up!
THanks for the welcome!

Yes, people are for the most part very fit up here. I think it's because there's a lot of outdoor things to do here.

Either that or they just hibernate in caves and live off their fat all winter.

I guess I'll find out!

I dont think I'll ever post here as much as I did a few years ago, unless BB comes back too. Unless it's something we both could have in common, then I would probably be encouraged to do post more.

But I think I will try to start keeping a blog again somewhere because I really like to be able to look back and remember what the hell went on the past year. My memory sucks!

It's my own little demented text-based scrapbook.

I'm not sure if it's the fond memories and history that I have here, but I find other blogging sites to be so sterile and without personality for some reason. Along with the obvious physical nudity here, there's a mental nudity that is hard to find in other blogging venues. That's what made it tough to stick with Live Journal. And I think is more suited for contacts rather than for blogging really.

We'll see. I'm still thinking about it...

Cheers K-

A

Vermont has four seasons... June, July, August, and Winter.

You didn't see that in the fine print?

So you're in Vermont ... and I'll be moving to Portland, Oregon. We can exchange "Winter War" stories.

However, RIGHT NOW ... DC is being hit by a "blizzard." I don't know why I'm excited by this, but I am! Twelve inches and growing ... w00t!!
