Skinny?

Skinny?

According to the "old" height/weight tables I grew up with, my "optimal" weight should be around 160 to 165. Overweight would be over 185. I've been up around 185 and still wore 32 inch waist pants, but didn't think I was overweight. I was pretty solid, but not as beefy as some of my gym rat buddies. I unintentionally hit my "optimal" weight range this past winter and my blood pressure and pulse dropped quite dramatically, almost in the "long time runner" category (and I don't run anymore). Still wore the same pants though.

So here's my problem. Compared to most people, I'm skinny. Looking back to the 70's, I'd be slightly bigger than average. Excluding the folks who have a belly hanging over their belt, are people just getting bigger? My siblings and I are taller than our parents, and my parents taller than theirs. Is this trend continuing? At 6 foot, am I going to be considered short in 25 years?

Not that I can do anything about it. I'm still going to push myself to break into the 180's again, but I'll have to eat more. I never broke 190 and doubt I ever will. The local guys that are pretty huge are (heard this second hand) on the "juice". That's just plain cheating. But I have to admit, if I knew then what I know now, I would most likely be up another 10 today. Maybe that's all it is. I just didn't know what the hell I was doing in my 20's and 30's. But now, nearly all school sports have some sort of sports nutrition and weight training element. Which is a good thing, as long as they stay away from banned substances.
